Vasyl Stus — Ukrainian sixties poet, translator, publicist, novelist, philosopher, literary critic, human rights defender, political prisoner of the USSR, dissident, member of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group, fighter for the independence of Ukraine in the 20th century.
Vasyl Stus died of hypothermia in a cell during a dry hunger strike in September 1985.
